Le 26 avril 2026, Karen Hayes, Présidente de la Fiber Optic Association (FOA), autorité mondiale de référence en certification fibre optique, a adressé une lettre officielle de reconnaissance à la Directrice Générale de Camtel. Cette distinction salue son engagement dans la formation et la certification de 130 techniciens CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) au sein de l’entreprise.
On April 26, 2026, Karen Hayes, President of the Fiber Optic Association (FOA), the world’s leading authority in fiber optic certification, sent an official letter of recognition to the General Manger of CAMTEL. This distinction commends her commitment to the training and certification of 130 CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) technicians within the company.
Un investissement stratégique dans les compétences locales
À travers cette initiative, Camtel confirme sa volonté de bâtir un réseau de télécommunications performant, porté par une expertise nationale solide.
La formation de ces 130 techniciens répond à des besoins opérationnels précis à savoir :
- le déploiement de la fibre optique selon les normes internationales ;
- la maintenance et l’exploitation du réseau avec un objectif de résolution des incidents en moins de 24 heures ;
- le raccordement rapide des clients FTTH avec un délai cible de trois jours maximum ;
- l’amélioration continue de l’expérience utilisateur avec un objectif de satisfaction client d’au moins 95 %.
La cérémonie de fin de formation de cette nouvelle promotion s’est tenue en novembre 2025 au Centre Technique d’Ekounou à Yaoundé.
A Strategic Investment in Local Expertise
Through this initiative, Camtel reaffirms its commitment to building a high-performing telecommunications network driven by strong national expertise.
The training of these 130 technicians addresses several key operational needs, including:
- deploying fiber optic infrastructure in compliance with international standards;
- maintaining and operating the network with a target incident resolution time of less than 24 hours;
- ensuring rapid FTTH customer connections with a maximum installation timeframe of three days;
- continuously improving customer experience with a customer satisfaction target of at least 95%.
The graduation ceremony for this new cohort took place in November 2025 at the Ekounou Technical Center in Yaounde.

Pour la Directrice Générale de Camtel, cette montée en compétences participe directement à l’accélération du plan Cameroun Numérique 2025. En renforçant les capacités techniques locales, l’entreprise se donne les moyens d’intensifier le déploiement de la fibre optique sur l’ensemble du territoire national.
Cette dynamique contribue également à renforcer la souveraineté numérique du Cameroun en réduisant progressivement la dépendance à l’expertise étrangère et en valorisant le savoir-faire camerounais.

À travers cette reconnaissance, la Fiber Optic Association souligne la pertinence de la vision portée par Camtel : offrir un réseau de qualité pour garantir un service de qualité.
La FOA a par ailleurs exprimé sa volonté de renforcer son partenariat avec l’opérateur historique camerounais afin de contribuer à l’élévation des standards professionnels dans le secteur des télécommunications au Cameroun.

According to the General Manager of Camtel, this capacity-building initiative directly contributes to accelerating the Cameroon Digital 2025 Plan. By strengthening local technical capabilities, the company is positioning itself to expand fiber optic deployment across the national territory more rapidly.
This momentum also helps reinforce Cameroon’s digital sovereignty by gradually reducing dependence on foreign expertise while promoting Cameroonian know-how and technical excellence.

Through this recognition, the Fiber Optic Association highlighted the relevance of Camtel’s vision: delivering a quality network to guarantee quality service.
The FOA also expressed its willingness to strengthen its partnership with Cameroon’s historic telecommunications operator in order to help raise professional standards across the telecommunications sector in Cameroon.
