Best Tech Start-up
This prize will be awarded to the best technology start-up based in Cameroon and run by a Cameroonian. The start-up should be no more than 5 years old and must not have received an award within the 2 years preceding the contest. A panel of judges will shortlist 10 start-ups on the basis of the criteria publicised and the 10 applicants selected will take part in the CAMTEL START-UP INNOVATION FORUM. They will receive support, pitch their project or prototype it before a panel of judges, which will award prizes to the best projects.
Best University Project
This prize will be awarded to the best project backed by a university or higher institution of learning, developed by students, researchers or PhD candidates, with a strong potential for profitability or job-creation. Entries must be submitted by universities and higher institutions of learning established in Cameroon and recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MINESUP).
These higher education institutions will have to select the best projects and submit a maximum of 4 (four). High schools and technical colleges may also submit their tech projects for the contest.
Best Woman-Led Start-up
This prize will be awarded to the start-up with the best technological project addressing a challenge faced by women. This also includes the best innovation project by a woman-led start-up. The start-up should be no more than 5 years old and should not have received any award within the 2 years preceding the contest.
A panel of judges will shortlist 5 start-ups on the basis of the criteria publicised and the 5 applicants selected will take part in the CAMTEL START-UP INNOVATION FORUM.
Best Innovation for People with Disabilities
This prize will be awarded to the best project led by a disabled person or addressing a challenge faced by people with disabilities, through the “Tech Is the Bridge” concept.
CAMTEL, through this concept, promotes the use of technology as a bridge enabling people with disabilities to overcome the challenges of an environment designed without their condition in mind.
Cameroon currently has almost 2 million people with disabilities, who face serious difficulties in accessing employment, education, public services and public transportation.
If you have a technological or digital solution that can help to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities and increase their access to employment, education and public services, this challenge is for you!
